Ambiance:
Octovino is a relatively new downtown Venice wine bar located in the San Marco building. It’s a small space with a casual atmosphere. It was perfect for a low key evening out when we dropped in a few Saturdays ago.

Justin and Noel are the husband and wife duo who own and run it, and they couldn’t be nicer. We enjoyed chatting with them and tried several wines that we hadn’t had before. We always love finding new-to-us wines on a local wine list!

Before the night was over (around 8pm for us! 😂), the bar was full and everyone was chatting like old friends. We even happened to end up sitting next to someone whose sister owns a small chocolate shop in my (very small) home town!

We just love how wine brings people together! What are the chances that we would sit next to each other AND figure this out!

Why Visit:

  • No pretense, just good wine – relaxed, welcoming, and easy to walk into
  • Unique varietals – where else are you finding Tannat and Pinotage on the same list?
  • Flexible pours – 3, 6, or 9 oz makes it easy to explore new wines, or satisfy a small sipper
  • Genuinely friendly owners – we love getting to know the faces behind the spots and sips
  • Perfect downtown stop – just a block off Venice Ave, so there is no reason NOT to stop in!
  • Open later than most – ideal for a nightcap after your dinner spot wraps up

🏝️ Our Venice Wine Experience

We love having a glass or two around Venice, our “city on the gulf”, and it was fun to try out Octovino for the first (and definitely not last) time. We loved chatting with the owners, and enjoyed meeting some Venice residents and visitors while we were at it.

TIP: Stop by early to chill at the bar and enjoy a chat while it’s quieter! Most days they open at 3pm! 🏝️

We each tried a couple of options, and for me, the Tannat was the winner. My partner in wine tried the Pinotage, and it was also one we’d enjoy again. It’s not common to find these varietals on local lists, so we were excited to see them offered at Octovino! We look forward to what we find the next time we visit.

Check back next Wednesday for another Wine Spot in Venice (or surrounding area)! And if you haven’t already, check out last week’s Wine Spot: Rumours Wine Bar.
