The Vibe
Rumours feels like the “Cheers” of South Venice—in the best way. After a visit or two, you’ll start recognizing faces… and before long, you’ll be one of them. It’s the kind of place you can sink into a sofa, pull up a barstool, or relax on the patio.
It’s like dropping into a friend’s place—welcoming, social, and full of familiar faces. Patrick and Lee Ann, the owners, are always part of the conversation, and Patrick really curates an interesting and evolving wine list.
Many nights they have live music, tastings, or other events. They even host a book club (yes, please! 📚+🍷)! Check out their events schedule here for all the scoop on their events. I even had a small birthday party there for my partner in wine, and they were awesome to work with on that.
What to Sip
The wine list is diverse, approachable, and thoughtfully curated. You’ll find: Crisp, refreshing whites from Portugal, mineral-driven Austrian selections, and bold reds from Washington State, Spain, and South Africa. We love that they offer 3 oz, 6 oz, and 9 oz pours—perfect for exploring something new without committing to a full glass.
And if you find something you love? Bottles are available to enjoy there or take home (always a win).
Need a recommendation? I love the Broadbent Vinho Verde—light, crisp, and perfect for a warm Venice evening. My partner in wine leans toward the Matthews Cabernet, a great pick if you’re in the mood for something a bit richer.
What to Nibble
You’ll find a great selection of small plates that are perfect for sharing, including a rotating chalkboard of special options. When a light dinner is in order, the flatbreads are a great option! (I love the roasted garlic flatbread!).
Why Visit:
- Friendly, neighborhood feel
- A thoughtfully curated, approachable wine list. And Patrick is always happy to talk about the wines!
- Engaging events, tastings, and live music
- Diverse and affordable wine list with something for everyone
- A place where you’ll quickly feel like a regular
🏝️ Our Venice Wine Experience at Rumours Wine Bar
Rumours is a great spot! Last time we popped in, we ended up in the middle of a Montalcino tasting featuring wines from Mastrojanni—four beautifully expressive Italian reds that made it very easy to stay for “just one more.”
🍷 Our Final Pour Wrap Up
Rumours Wine Bar is equal parts neighborhood hangout and hidden gem—easygoing, well-curated, and always worth a stop.
We love having a glass or two around Venice, our “city on the gulf.” Check back next week for another Venice, Florida wine bar you won’t want to miss! 🥂
