Sun, sand, and a perfectly poured glass—that’s our kind of life. We started Venice Wine Experiences because we love Venice, Florida, and its surrounding Gulf Coast areas… and we love wine. We couldn’t imagine keeping all the fun to ourselves! From sipping at local wine bars and exploring wine shops, to uncorking a great bottle on our lanai, there’s nothing like the memories made around a truly good glass of vino.
Wine, for us, is less about scores and labels and more about moments, people, and place. Occasionally, we’ll also take you along on our travels to wine-focused regions around the world, from Napa to hidden gems on our bucket list—but most stories will stay close to Venice, where our everyday adventures unfold.
What We Mean by “Wine Experiences”
This isn’t a review site. You won’t find point scores or rigid tasting notes here typically.
Instead, you’ll find:
- Wine as part of our local life and Florida adventures
- Meals and gatherings that linger in our memory ~ shared with friends, and remembered fondly
- Hidden gems, tasting rooms, and small events that show the heart of SW Florida’s wine scene
- Occasional travel that takes us beyond Venice to enjoy wines all over the world
We’re the kind of people who check out wine lists at every restaurant we visit, linger over a perfectly poured glass with friends—or sometimes by ourselves on a Tuesday!—and savor every opportunity to discover something new, whether it’s a fun local wine bar, a hidden winery, or a clever wine gadget that makes the experience even better.
Why Venice, Florida?
Venice isn’t just home—it’s our hub. Venice provides endless opportunities to explore and enjoy wine. But we also venture beyond the city: to nearby Gulf Coast towns for weekend escapes, and occasionally international wine regions where we can capture the same sense of place, discovery, and joy.
Think of Venice as a starting point, not a boundary. We want to share the best sips and spots our area has to offer—and inspire a little curiosity for wine adventures farther afield.
How We Explore Wine
Our approach is simple:
- We go slow and curious, whether strolling the historic downtown or visiting a tasting
- We follow interest, not itineraries, leaving space for unexpected discoveries
- We let the wine and the moment guide the experience
- We love to share these experiences with our friends
Why This Exists
This site exists to share wine experiences that feel authentic, local, and memorable—and to do it in a way that’s fun, approachable, and full of the fun that comes with great wine and great company. Occasionally, we’ll take that curiosity global, bringing you along on select wine journeys from Napa to other bucket-list destinations.
Basically, if it involves wine, and we can add in some sun, sand, and Venice, we’re in. We hope you are too.
Who Are We?
We’re just a couple of tech workers who love wine. And Venice. We work from home and collect wine…and wine memories. We love to travel and try new wines. We love to stroll Venice Ave and find a new wine.
We have both been into wine for years. I remember my first taste….a 1990s Boone’s Farm Strawberry Hill. And I was hooked! My partner in wine was a bit more discerning and had a 1991 Jarvis Estate Cab among his small collection in the basement of his Dublin, Ohio, condo.
We’ve slowly moved our way south to Venice, and are now at a point where we spend a good amount of time tasting and collecting wine. My partner in wine achieved the WSET Level 2 Award in Wines – with Distinction last year, and is currently pursuing the Level 3.
We have day jobs. We just prefer to enjoy wine! And we want to help you enjoy wine, too!
