🏝️ Wines We Drank (and loved) Last Week: 2 Lasseter Family Winery Reds

It was a relatively low key week at home after the previous week’s travels and we enjoyed a couple of great bottles of wine through the week. Friends dropped by on Tuesday, and we loved sharing a glass with them, while my partner in wine and I enjoyed the memories of visiting Lasseter Family Winery a couple of years ago.

Both wines felt perfect for casual weeknight drinking and are bottles we’d happily recommend to our fellow wine lovers in Venice and beyond!

Tasting Notes

This wine is smooth, full-bodied, and very easy to drink. We picked up aromas of black fruit, spice, oak, and a hint of leather. The blend changes slightly each vintage, but the balance in the 2020 was the perfect balance for us.

Paired With: We had veggie tacos, but it would have been great with really anything. Steak, pasta with a nice red sauce, or even a grilled chicken salad.

Where to buy: Lasseter Family Winery online shop (although the 2020 is no longer available online, the 2021 is, and we’d buy it in a minute!)

🍷 Wednesday Wine

Wine: 2020 Paysage

13% Cabernet Sauvignon
3% Malbec

Tasting Notes

Another weekday winner for us. This wine leans more medium-plus in body, with smooth texture and a slightly earthy character. It’s bold enough to stand on its own but still relaxed and easy drinking.

Pair With: We ordered asian, and enjoyed it together very much, although it’s probably not the most textbook pairing. If you don’t know us, though, you may not have realized that we aren’t into fancy pairings for the everyday. We typically drink what we like and eat what we like…even if they don’t “go” together! 😂

Where to buy: Lasseter Family Winery online shop (the 2020 is no longer available online for this one either, but the 2021 is, and we’d buy that one in a minute, too!)

Both wines reminded us how much we love trying new wines as much as we love revisiting wines we’ve tried before – like these. Each sip brought back great memories from our visit a couple of years ago. That was a fun week with great friends, great wines, and great memories. 🍷

We’d happily drink either again, and hope you give Lasseter a look when you’re in Sonoma, or when you’re looking for a new wine to try!
