Wine Spot Wednesday: Villani & Co Wellen Park

This week, our wine spot is in the increasingly-popular Wellen Park! Villani & Co is a new Florida style steakhouse with a wine list we couldn’t ignore! While we love our Venice vibe, Wellen Park brings a new energy and a modern twist to wine spots, and Villani & Co is definitely new and modern. So of course we had to go and check it out!

Ambiance at Villani & Co

Villani & Co is a high-energy anchor in downtown Wellen Park. It has that polished, “big city” energy with high ceilings and a sleek, modern bar, but it still manages to feel totally breezy and Florida. It’s the kind of place where you want to be sit with a glass of bubbles, yet it’s comfortable enough to relax at the bar, share a bottle, and stay for a while.

With huge windows that let in all that gorgeous Florida light and soaring ceilings, it has an upscale interior that feels like you just want to be there. It’s vibrant and perfectly situated for a sunset stroll around the lake in Wellen Park once you’ve finished your last sip. It’s a definitely different vibe than our normal wine spots!

🏝️ Our Venice Wine Spot Wednesday Experience at Villani & Co

We dropped into Villani & Co on a Sunday evening recently. We easily found parking in the front, and the bar had plenty of seating open. It was really a beautiful restaurant and very different from the vibes in most of our local favorites – big windows, tall ceilings, and a modern vibe.

The wine list was short, but offered plenty of options that we were happy to try. I opted for the Jax Y3 Sauvignon Blanc (you know we are big Jax fans!). While I don’t typically gravitate towards Napa Sauvignon Blancs, I enjoyed the Jax – it was crisp with aromas of citrus (lemon!). It would be the perfect pour for a day at the beach, or an evening on the lanai. And it went perfectly with my salad.

My Partner in Wine selected the ‘Rioja’ Tridente from Castilla y León, which we believe was actually a beautifully expressive Tempranillo (important reminder to always ask to see the bottle when having just a glass!). Its medium body was the perfect match for the pork chop he ordered—and naturally, the pork chop was his first and only choice!

🍷 Our Final Pour Wrap Up

We enjoyed the drive to Wellen Park and had a nice evening at Villani & Co. The wine list was short but offered enough of a variety that we’re sure you’ll find something you like. If you typically sip in Venice or Englewood, we encourage you to check out Wellen Park for your next outing! (And while you’re there, spend some time enjoying the Wellen Park area for strolling, shopping, and people watching!)
