🏝️ Fridays ~ Venice Style

We recently enjoyed a spontaneous night out in our beloved Venice!🏝️ Since returning from our travels, we’ve been laying a bit low—it’s the craziest time of year here, after all—but we were starting to miss the swaying palms and golden sunshine along Venice Ave. So we snuck away from our desks a little early on a Friday and kicked off the weekend in proper Venice style.

Abby’s on Miami

We’ve had a gift card to Abby’s on Miami since 2023, and I decided it was finally time to put it to good use (better late than never, right?😂). We cozied up at the bar and eased into the evening—me with a simple glass of Oyster Bay Sauvignon Blanc, and my partner in wine with a glass of Alamos Malbec (🇦🇷).

It was a quiet, easygoing start to the night. We enjoyed a little people-watching from the bar as people milled around along Miami Avenue, chatted with the bartender, and simply relaxed. It was the perfect way to transition from work mode into weekend mode—while finally cashing out that gift card!

Café Venice

From there, we wandered over to Café Venice, one of our go-to spots for a glass of wine (or two) and a nibble on Venice Avenue. 

The bar was nearly full, but we managed to snag two seats at the end (our preferred location!). The bartenders, as always, were welcoming and attentive, and soon we had fresh glasses in hand.

The wine list at Cafe Venice is consistently interesting. There’s a thoughtful variety—not just the “usual suspects” you find at many restaurants—though you’ll still see a few familiar favorites. Pair that with their selection of small bites, and it’s always a winning combination on Venice Ave.

This time, we tried the mushroom potstickers, and they were the perfect accompaniment: warm and crispy on the outside with a rich, umami-packed mushroom-y goodness inside. Absolutely delicious.

Cheers to Another Lovely Evening in Venice

All in all, it was another wonderful evening in this “city on the gulf” we call home. Venice never gets old for us—the sunshine, the energy, the familiar faces, and our favorite spots with a perfect glass or two of wine 🍷 .
