🍷About the 2023 Jax Estate Petit Verdot

Flashback to this year’s Forks and Corks, when we sampled the 2023 Jax Estate Petit Verdot along with Dan Parrott the CEO of Jax and knew immediately we had to buy some of this terrific wine.

Most estates do not bottle a single varietal Petit Verdot, opting instead to use it for blending. But thankfully, Jax does not play to tradition and decided to go all in with this bottling. The 2023 Jax Estate Petit Verdot pours a deep purple and comes at you with big, clear aromas of blackberry compote, black cherry, violets, ink, and a touch of licorice. It’s bold and with high tannin, high acidity, and full body. The oak is handled well enough to smooth things out, and the finish hangs on nicely, showing the skill of the wine maker. Tasted after an hour in the decanter, this five‑barrel estate bottling already shows a lot to like, and it should become even more approachable in three to five years.

These Venice wine lovers vote this a definite buy.

You can find it here:  Jax Estate Petit Verdot | Jax Vineyards. Let them know we sent you!

You can also try other Jax wines locally at Venice Wine and Coffee (they were out of the Petit Verdot when we were there last). And if you’ve tried it, we’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments!
