We Venice wine lovers had a delish dinner last night with two great friends at Chophouse 285—the new spot in Englewood that’s only been open a couple of weeks (opened by the Farlows, so they know restaurants AND Englewood!)—and wow, what a great experience. Yes, there were a few new-restaurant service kinks, but honestly? Totally worth it.
The space is beautiful—modern vibes, cozy seating inside, plus a big inviting patio. Our table was tucked into this intimate little nook that felt like a room within the larger dining room (loved that). Parking was easy (👏) and even the noise level was totally manageable.
We kicked things off with the onion rings and they were so yummy. 😍 Then came the mains: steaks, a pork chop for my partner in wine🍷, and I went with the lion’s mane mushroom—which was absolutely delicious. Our server explained they use a custom grill that they designed, and you can taste it in everything. That smoky, grilled flavor is next-level. (Also—get the broccolini. Trust me.) They also have a cool aging room for the beef, with a beautiful salt wall. It must be doing something right since the steak-eaters loved their steaks!
Here I am raving about the food when we’re really here for the wine! We chose a bottle of 2022 Silverado Mt. George Vineyard Merlot—moderately priced, super smooth, nice body, and shockingly enjoyable for someone who usually doesn’t love Merlot. It paired beautifully with everything on the table. I’d definitely order it again!
All in all? 10/10. We’ll definitely be back to explore more of their wine list…and see what else we can enjoy from that delicious grill! ❤️🔥
