Our recent travels through Mendoza gave us a firsthand look at the place behind so many of Argentina’s wines—from vineyards stretching toward the Andes to the dramatic high-altitude landscapes of the Uco Valley. This tasting brings us back to Mendoza through the glass, exploring seven wines that show just how much there is to discover beyond the Malbec Argentina is best known for. We’re excited to share it with you!

Bodega DiamAndes

Vista Flores, Uco Valley, Mendoza

DiamAndes sits at approximately 1,100 meters (3,600 feet) at the foot of the Andes in Vista Flores. The estate is part of Clos de los Siete and is owned by the Bonnie family, bringing Bordeaux winemaking experience together with an Argentine vineyard and winemaking team. The 130-hectare estate grows Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Syrah, Merlot and Petit Verdot, along with Chardonnay and Viognier.

Our four wines give us a particularly fun way to explore DiamAndes: two whites, a rosé and a red.

Founded in 2007 by Bill Navigato and his wife, Janett, VistaFlores Estate is a boutique producer working with three vineyard sites in the Uco Valley: Altamira, Vista Flores and La Consulta. Its vineyards sit at high elevation, where abundant sunshine and significant shifts between daytime and nighttime temperatures help grapes develop flavor while retaining freshness.

The wines we’re tasting offer three different looks at the estate’s reds—from old-vine Malbec to a blend of Malbec from all three vineyard areas and a single-vineyard Cabernet Franc.
